So, how does it really work? Water has the second highest specific heat capacity of any known substance – this means that it takes a tremendous amount of energy (heat) to raise its temperature by one degree. The water inside the device absorbs excess body heat whenever you or your pet is in contact with it. The specialized foam core inside helps to channel that heat away, releasing it back into the air around you giving a prolonged cooling effect. This is why you can get hours of cooling before the device will reach your body temperature and you will no longer notice the cool sensation. Once the device reaches your body temperature, simply set it aside (away from a heat source) and the water will release all the absorbed heat to return back to room temperature.
